As part of our NICHD-funded, COPPER (Collaborative Online Perinatal & PEdiatric Repository) project, we are surveying networks, foundations, and researchers involved in maternal and pediatric research. We are seeking to identify available biospecimens and associated data for collaborative research.

Our overarching objective is to develop a centralized listing of biobanks and other sources of biospecimens and data (for example, left-over specimens from clinical trials) to support maternal-pediatric collaborations and conduct critical review of associated governances, consents, ethical documents, and resources available from maternal-pediatric biorepositories.

This database of studies with stored biologic specimens and publicly available data eventually will be made available through the MPRINT Hub website. This could generate great interest in new and innovative uses for existing biospecimens and data and allow for translation of findings much more quickly than with conventional new cohort recruitment.
